Happy New Year!

Christmas Break is almost over for Barnsdall Public Schools, as the students will start back to school on Monday, Jan. 6 to begin the second semester. The elementary school will be giving out grade cards on Tuesday, Jan. 7 while the high school will be giving out grade cards on Monday, Jan. 13. As always, parents and guardians are able to monitor their child’s grades using the Wengage Parent Portal at www.ok.wengage.com/barnsdall.

Barnsdall students who are enrolled concurrently through Tulsa Community College will start their second semester on Monday, Jan. 13.

Congratulations to Seth Shulenberger, who entered his pig in the Certified Oklahoma Bred Association Christmas Classic last week at the Payne County Expo Center in Stillwater. Seth won the Champion AOB Gilt. Congratulations, Seth!

Barnsdall will host two nights of basketball games this week, as the high school and junior high teams will play at home. The high school girls and boys teams will play at home against Nowata on Friday, Jan. 3 at 6:30 p.m. The junior high teams will play at home against Pawhuska on Monday, Jan. 6 at 5:30 p.m. Come out and support these teams, as they host Nowata and Pawhuska at home this week.

Students who are interested in registering for the ACT Feb. 8 test date have until Friday, Jan. 10 to sign up. Please visit the ACT website to register for the test at www.act.org. Students who register for an ACT test this school year are automatically entered for a chance to win a $15,000 scholarship and a $5,000 technology package.

The Bigheart Day planning meetings are beginning this month, with the first meeting on Monday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Barnsdall Community Center each month until May. If you are interested in participating in the planning of Barnsdall’s biggest event of the year, please plan to attend the meetings. The planning committee could really use the help in organizing and planning this event. For questions about the planning committee, please contact Claud Rosendale.

The Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 14 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 12 p.m. Lunch will be served and an agenda will be emailed prior to the meeting.
