Week of December 4

Barnsdall Public Schools students have returned to school this week, as they enjoyed their long Thanksgiving Break last week. The students will return to school for three weeks until their next break from school, Dec. 23 to Jan. 6, when they will be on Christmas Break. The next few weeks, students will focus on semester tests and benchmark exams.

The Barnsdall High School football team unfortunately played its last game of the 2019 season on Friday, as the team lost to Cashion 28-6. The Panthers had a great year, making it to the quarterfinals of the state Class A playoffs, and the community is certainly proud of the players, their accomplishments and their successful season. The players will now hang up their football cleats and begin a new athletic season of wrestling or basketball with a full week of scheduled games and meets starting this week.

The Barnsdall High School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will play their first games of the season on Friday, Dec. 6 at home against CHEF. Both teams will play again on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at home against Bartlesville Wesleyan. Varsity basketball action starts at 6:30 p.m. Come out and support the basketball teams as they begin their new season.

The Barnsdall FFA chapter is hosting a chili cooking contest for those of you who think you have the best chili in Osage County. The chili contest will be held at the Old Feed Depot on Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. If you are interested in registering your chili for the FFA Chili Cooking Contest, go to the Barnsdall FFA Facebook page and click on the link provided. Registration is online and is due by Dec. 12. For questions, call the FFA Advisor, Mr. Goodwin at 918-847-2271.
