A Texas teen shown on video placing a small dog in a clothes dryer is under investigation by police.
After video of the incident went viral, tipsters helped authorities track down the unnamed teen. Officers in Lewisville, near Dallas, say they've now positively identified her.
In the video, the girl places the Shih Tzu in the dryer, closes the door and starts the appliance, according to USA Today. The dryer reportedly ran for about six seconds, as the teen clapped and laughed.
She then opened the door and the dog ran off. Dallas TV station KTVT reports the dog was later checked out by a veterinarian and is fine.
USA Today says the video has been viewed more than 5 million times.
"The case is being investigated as Cruelty to non-livestock animals," Lewisville police posted on Facebook. "No other information will be provided at this time. Due to the age of the person involved, few details in this case may be released."
