The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced a Disaster Recovery Center will open at 2 p.m. today, Friday, June 28, in front of Avant City Hall.

Susheel Kumar, a public information officer for the Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Assistance, said a mobile disaster recovery unit will be located in front of city hall, 235 Broadway Street, Avant.

The mobile Disaster Recovery Center will be open from 2-7 p.m. Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the Small Business Administration announced.

Scott Sanders, a media relations specialist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, said the mobile center at Avant will be staffed by an Individual Assistance specialist, who can help area residents with questions about applications for disaster assistance. The center will also be staffed by the Small Business Administration and possibly by the Mitigation Division, he said.
