After rolling through the playoffs, the wheels fell off for Class A No. 3 Dale Thursday night in a season-ending 12-2 run-rule loss to Wright City at Edmond Memorial High School.

The Pirates used six pitchers in six innings. Wright City got a complete game win from Connor Bastarche who needed only 106 pitches to secure the win.

The 21-7 Pirates suffered from self inflicted wounds on defense.

Two walks and a fielder's choice where the defender didn't touch the base on a force play loaded the bases in the second for Wright City. The Lumberjax got their first run on a passed ball. That was the first of three runs the Pirates surrendered on passed balls

The Pirates also allowed four unearned runs on two costly errors.

After yielding four runs in the bottom of the second, Dale tried to rally to stay in the game. Bryce Crawford singled and Karson Hunt walked.

After David Herring moved the runners into scoring position, Jared Rogers reached on a throwing error by the Wright City second baseman that allowed both Crawford and Hunt to score.

Surprisingly, those were the only runs the Pirates would muster.

Crawford was the only Dale hitter with two hits. He also scored a run and pitched an inning.

Cade McQuain and Ike Shirey got the other two hits for the Pirates.

Wright City advances to play Oktaha in the semi-finals Friday.
