Byron Ray “Sonny” Anthony

Byron Ray “Sonny” Anthony passed away Friday, July 27, 2018.

Sonny was a long-time resident of Pawhuska, first living here with his parents and then on his own after they passed away. Sonny was rarely “on his own” though, as he counted most folks in Pawhuska as good friends. He was a fixture at Buffalo Joes’ Restaurant, where he had nicknames for all the staff and enjoyed spending many hours visiting with friends. Sonny was a simple man and according to all who knew him, he didn’t have a bad bone in his body. He was always quick to laugh, and his nieces and nephews fondly remember his sweet joking and the fun they had with him at family reunions. Throughout his life, Sonny was lucky to enjoy various jobs in the automotive field, his love of which was evident in his series of beloved pickup trucks.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Charley Ray and Flossie Mildred Anthony, his infant brother Charles Edward and his sister, Margaret Rose “Midge” Hart. He is survived by his brother, Curtis Wayne Anthony, and sisters, Aleta Mae Finger and Viola Christine “Vicky” Gasper. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his many, many friends that made up his “Pawhuska Family.”

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 10:00AM, at Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Ethel Reese Cemetery, Barnsdall, OK.
