If you’re dying in the Oklahoma summer heat, frustrated that you have no Pawhuska Huskies sporting action to divert your attention from the sizzle, fear not.

Relief is on the way.

The Pawhuska High School softball team is scheduled to open its season Monday at home versus Caney Valley High School. The action is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m., with a seven-inning varsity game and a five-inning junior varsity tilt on tap.

The Monday games are to be followed Tuesday with games at home versus Ponca City. Tuesday’s diamond action is to begin at 5 p.m.

These season-opening matchups are among four home dates with which the Huskies are beginning their season.

Aug. 10-11, also at home, Pawhuska is scheduled to have a tournament and alumni game available for fans to watch. Then, on Aug. 13, Pawnee is scheduled to be in town.

The Huskies don’t play on the road until Aug. 14 at Nowata. So grab your lawn chair, a good hat and some sunscreen and head for the field. The gas leak has been plugged and the Huskies need you to come yell for them.
