WYNONA SCHOOL NEWS
(Submitted by Shelly Shulanberger)
Christmas Break began on Monday, December 25. Students will return to school on Monday, Jan. 8.
NEW FIRE DEPARTMENT EMERGENCY NUMBER
Due to increasing costs and the number of firefighters that do not have “land lines,” the decision has been made to discontinue the fire department phone service and fire bar. I have looked into the functionality of the fire bar and have found that it rings into city hall, phone office, fire station and only two firefighters houses. This in turn causes serious issues when a call is made during nonduty hours at city hall as there might not be anyone to answer the call. So, to save the fire department and the town additional liability, the fire phone is being shut off. This was effective Dec. 31. If there is a fire or any other emergency, residents should call 911.
WYNONA TOWN HALL WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING KANOKLA PAYMENTS
According to an executive from Kanokla, the Wynona Town Hall will no longer be the payment agency for the Kanokla Telephone Company, effective Jan. 1. Wynona customers will be required to mail their payments in or pay them over the internet. The Town Hall is sorry for this inconvenience, but it was not our decision.
