Mary “Sue” (McDonald) Markwell passed into eternal life Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, in Oklahoma City.

Sue was born May 17, 1939, in Wewoka to Vernon Eugene and Iva Mary (Wyatt) McDonald.

Sue graduated from Seminole High School in 1957.

She married George Eugene “Gene” Markwell on Dec. 18, 1959, in Seminole. For a short time they moved to Duncan and Woodward; they returned to Seminole in 1966 where Sue worked as a bookkeeper for various companies. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee and an active member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Sue enjoyed craft projects, sewing, baking, reading and traveling.

Sue leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Donna Aton and husband Steve of Shawnee, one brother, Bob McDonald of Phoenix, Arizona, three grandchildren, Anthony Gamble and wife Felicia of Yukon, Robert Aton and wife Amanda of Newcastle, Karen Roady and husband Brent of Norman, four great-grandchildren, Ayrton Gamble, Jacob and Tucker Aton and Colin Roady, four sisters-in-law, Mildred Story of Wewoka, Irene Whitehead of Yukon, Sharon Bane of Seminole, and Kathy Moore of Edmond, as well as other family and friends.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Iva McDonald, her husband, Gene, on Feb. 14, 1979, and one daughter, Deborah Sue Markwell, in April 1961.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Phil Thompson of Liberty Baptist Church will officiate the service.
