The Oklahoma City Community Foundation recently announced Barnsdall High School graduate Michael McGill is a recipient of the Dr. Eugene S. Briggs Memorial Scholarship for the 2017-18 academic year. He is attending Oklahoma State University pursuing a degree in animal sciences and husbandry.
The Lions Clubs of Oklahoma established the Dr. Eugene S. Briggs Memorial Scholarship at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation in honor of fellow Oklahoma Lion and past president of Lions Club International, Dr. Briggs. Oklahoma high school graduating seniors who have received an endorsement from a local Lions Club are eligible to apply for the $1,000 award.
In total, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation awarded more than $1.9 million in scholarships to 640 students throughout the state for the 2017-18 academic year. The scholarships were established by a variety of donors to help students further their education beyond high school.
