When pastor Brett Thomasson made his debut at the Pawhuska Methodist Church in early June, he quickly became known for his colorful bow ties.

Sunday, Thomasson was surprised by the vast number of his congregation who were wearing his trademark bow ties. He jokingly remarked, “This could be the world’s record for the number of bow ties at a church altar!”

Methodist Lay Leader Ron Reed said the unusual assembly was twofold.

“First, the congregation wanted to celebrate Pastor Brett’s upcoming birthday on Sept. 6,” he said. Secondly, we wanted to show our solidarity with a welcome gift of his first Huskie black and orange bow tie!”
