Pawhuska’s Chet Herren holds a comfortable lead in the A Division headed into the 2016 Osage Steer Roping Club season finals this weekend at Bar K Arena.

Herren, who’s second in Steer Roping’s PRCA World Standings, has dominated the Osage Club’s events this year. With only six rounds of Saturday’s finals remaining, Herren has 161 points — 70 more than Ralph Williams of Skiatook, the second-place roper in the OSRC top division.

Dee Kyler, another Pawhuskan, is third in the A division, with 61 points. Skiatook’s Brad Starks (51.5) sits in fourth place, while Barnsdall ropers Tom Smith (48 points) abd Matt Garrett (46), are fifth and sixth, repectively.

In the Osage Roping’s B division, B0bby Brock of Cushing is equally secure at the top. His 186 points give his an give him a 79 1/2-point over Skiatook’s Ryan O’Rourke, who started the season as a C-level roper. Ryan Lenz of Edmond, the OSRC president, is third (99 1/2) in the B’s.

Colcord roper Nick Simmons leads the Osage C division by 36 points over Kip McMillen (80 1/2), with Robert Fudge of Skiatook holding third place. Simmons also is in first place of the OSRC Rookie of the Year scoring. He has 127 ROY points, which is 41 more than second-place Tyler Hargrave.

The OSRC Finals begin at 1 p.m. Friday with four rounds of roping in the B and C divisions. On Saturday, rounds one through three of the A ropers start at 10 a.m. After B and C divisions complete two final rounds, the A ropers return to the arena for their last three rounds.

Later on Saturday, awards will be presented at the OSRC Finals Banquet, which gets underway in the Osage County Fairgrounds’ Women’s Building at 6:30 p.m.
