RAMONA — Olivia Pitcher struck out nine and allowed only two hits as Welch coasted to a 9-0 fast-pitch softball win over Caney Valley here Tuesday, Aug. 7.
The Lady Wildcats gave Pitcher a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning against Caney Valley.
They added a run in the fifth then broke the game open with a six-run sixth.
Nine of Welch’s 11 hits were doubles.
Addison Chenoweth had three while Pitcher, Hailey Haskell, Halle Rupert, Madison Schaper and Taylor Foust had one each.
Rupert and Foust also had singles.
During the Lady Cats’ sixth-inning rally, Perkins delivered a two-run double while Foust, Pitcher and Haskell had RBI doubles.
Avery Brannon also drove in a run with a grounder to third base.
The Lady Wildcats opened the season by splitting games at Catoosa on Monday, Aug. 6.
They rolled over Catoosa 11-1 then suffered a 4-3 loss to Verdigris.

Catoosa spoiled Perkins bid for a shutout by getting its lone run in the bottom of the first.
That tied the game at 1-1.
Welch used a five-run rally in the second to take charge. It tallied a single run in the third then kicked in the run rule by scoring four in the fourth.
Chenoweth and Rupert each had a triple and two singles for the Lady Wildcats.
Each drove in three runs.
Schaper contributed two singles while Haskell, who picked up the win in the circle, and Brannon had one each.

Chenoweth had Welch’s only hit off Toni Shawnee.
The hosts got five runs in the first, two in the second and a final three in the third.
Welch scored all three of its runs in the top of the third frame.
