WELCH — Justin Pape poured in 35 points as the Bluejacket boys rolled to a 66-40 win against Welch here Friday, Dec. 1.

The Welch girls claimed a 56-43 decision in the opener.

Pape was 9 of 13 at the free throw line and had 12 buckets, including a pair of treys.

He had nine points in each of the final two periods.

Bluejacket was up 14-12 after one, but bumped the lead to 29-21 at the break.

The Chieftains pulled away ini the third quarter thans to a 19-13 edge.

Joining Pape in double figures was Johnny Estes with 16.

Ryder Blackfox and Coy McGlasson added six each and Cooper Decker chipped in with three points.

Braxton Turner netted 19 points for the Wildcats.

Dalton Duede scored nine, followed by six each from Seth Hayward and Colton Armstrong.

Girls

Welch 56, Bluejacket 43

Bluejacket slowly pulled away in the girls’ game.

The Lady Chieftains were up 9-3 after one, then coasted into the half with a 27-15 advantage.

They added 13 points in the third and held on as Bluejacket held a 19-16 margin in the fourth.

Olivia Chenoweth had 17 points and Olivia Pitcher added 11 for the Lady Wildcats.

Jaeli Jorgenson chipped in with eight and Jayci Atwood, Hailey Haskell and Aspen Wood scored six each.

Maddie Schaper scored three for the winners.

Bluejacket also had two players in double figures: Lydia Pipins with 18 and Dee Dee Saterwhite with 13.

The Lady Chieftains also got six from Laura Collins, three friom Lexi Winfrey, two each from Abby Brewster and Shelbie Baker and one from Lea Hency.
