The Shawnee Lady Wolves volleyball team saw their season come to an end Tuesday in their Class 6A regional tournament at Deer Creek. The Lady Wolves swept Lawton 25-16, 25-11, 26-24 to make it to the title match against Deer Creek. They kept close for the first two sets 25-23, 25-23 but were beat 25-17 in the final set.
Olivia Barlean completed the match against Lawton with four aces and 17 digs. Brooklyn Fluke and Maddy Hudgins had 10 kills apiece.
Barlean had eight digs against Deer Creek while Fluke had six kills and Hudgins finished with seven. Jaci Johnson had eight aces.
First year coach Kaitlyn Lucy was happy with how well her girls played, particularly with the move up from 5A to 6A in the postseason and after suffering injuries last week.
“I thought we played really well,” she said. “It just didn't turn out in our favor.”
The girls finish the season 23-10. Lucy was happy with how well they did overall in the season, adjusting to a new coach and strategies.
“I'm really really proud of them,” she said.
