CLAREMORE — Abby Ishmael had a three-hit shutout as Miami romped to a 9-0 victory over Mannford in the Lady Wardogs’ fast-pitch season opener in the Claremore Festival here Monday, Aug. 7.

“She did very well. She threw strikes and mixed speeds” said Miami coach Lauren Strack.

Ishmael fanned three and hit one batter over five innings.

The Lady Wardogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a single by Phoenix Burrow and two more in the second on a Jordan Davis single.

Jordan Quapaw delivered a two-run single in the third. She wound up scoring Miami’s seventh run on an error.

The Lady Wardogs kicked in the run rule by scoring a final two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a passed ball and a sacrifice fly.

Davis had three singles while Rebecca Bell and Burrow added two singles apiece.

Lauren Panter singled.

The Lady Wardogs also benefitted from nine walks.
