Rodney Pettitt, 61, died April 5, 2014, in Tulsa.

He was born June 24, 1952 in Sacramento, Calif., to Richard and May (Robertson) Pettitt. Rod was a miner, the tradition of the Pettitt Family. He followed mining construction for 20 years and participated in various projects across the United States and Washington, D.C.

Rod loved to travel. He loved his friends and family, and he loved his music. He made friends easily and was well-liked in the mining community.

Survivors include his mother, May Brady; spouse, Gale Pettitt; children Laney and son-in-law, Kerry; Natalie, Jordan and grandson, Cort; sister, Pamela; nephew, David; and niece, Nicole.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 9, in the McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Nelagoney Cemetery under the direction of McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home.
