Nancy Gilliland Reber, 78, of Sand Springs, died Feb. 5, 2014. At the time of her death, Nancy was in Lubbock, Texas, with her family at her side.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. May 3 at Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home.

Nancy was born March 1, 1935, in Pawhuska. She married Dick Reber in 1956. Prior to her marriage, she attended St. John’s Nursing School in Tulsa. Nancy then devoted her very busy life working for many years helping the elderly in home assistance and nursing homes. She was an advocate for the elderly in her job with the State of Oklahoma.

Nancy’s joy was raising her five boys, Steve, Mike, Randy, Shaun and Todd. Dick and Nancy Reber, along with their five boys, were longtime residents of Altus. In retirement she continued her work in Pawhuska, as a volunteer Ombudsman. She lived on Lake Keystone, her home, surrounded by trees, flowers and bird feeders. She enjoyed reading daily, listening to music and watching television.

In addition to her five sons, she is survived by Randy’s wife, Susan Dixon Reber; and three grandchildren, Ryan Reber and his wife, Lynsey Reber, Drew Reber of Lubbock, Texas, and Waylon Long of Altus; and a great-granddaughter, Rilynn Janette Reber of Lubbock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in 2006.
