Our Robotics teams went to Alva last weekend and proudly showed off their robots. They did not place but still learned a lot and were proud to be a part of the competition. Way to go Mr. Powell and students! We appreciate Ms. Ervin and Mr. Supernaw for assisting on the trip.

We have a new face at our school, Coach Brandy Supernaw. He will be a long term sub for Mr. Pinkston this year, teaching science and coaching. Welcome!

Our basketball teams have gotten off to a good start. Our cheerleaders are doing a great job. Way to go Coach Cartright! Next week, the high school and junior high have a game with Mingo Valley, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, starting at 4:30 p.m., here. On Wednesday, our junior high teams will play Peckham here on Wednesday, Nov. 20, starting at 1 p.m. On Thursday, our elementary and junior high teams play Bowring here, starting at 4:30 p.m.

The sophomores and juniors will take the ASVAB on Thursday, Nov. 21, starting at noon. The 7th and 8th grade students will be going to Tulsa on Friday, Nov. 22, to watch a movie that goes along with the literature they have been studying. Our Thanksgiving break starts on Nov. 25. Students will then have three weeks to bring grades to perfection for the semester!

Progress reports will go out with students on Dec. 4. Our next Parent Teacher Organization meeting will be Tuesday, Dece. 3, at 5:30 p.m.. We invite and encourage everyone to come help plan things for our teachers and students. If everyone helps a little, then no one has to do a lot. This group is responsible for our Grandparents’ Day, Veterans’ Day, and the baskets for the carnival. We need lots of supporters to make it work. We appreciate our community for supporting our school!

I have been trying to find an agency that will come to the Town Hall for a Flu Shot Clinic. If anyone knows of an agency that can do this, please contact Town Clerk Tennie Slone at 918-846-2526. We have had a good success with this in the past and would like to have another one to help protect our citizens from the flu. In the meantime, everyone is urged to call the Osage County Health Department and set up an appointment to get their flu shots there. The cost is based on income.

At noon on Saturday, November 30th, the Victory Baptist Church will be having a chili lunch and clothing giveaway. There are tons of really nice clothes for anyone who needs them and we would love to give them away. Pastor Bill Lay invites everyone to come and enjoy the chili and shop for all they want of free clothes.

The Wynona Christmas parade will be Saturday, December 14th beginning at 6:30 P.M. All clubs and organizations should be making their plans to be in our parade. It will be a lot of fun, as usual. Mark your calendars!

Just a reminder that Lee Webb, is still coming to the Town Hall on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 to help Veterans with their benefits. This is a great opportunity for veterans and should be utilized by all that are qualified.

Veterans are reminded that they can use their tax exempt card from the state to exempt taxes on their phone bills. Just contact your telephone provider for more details. The OK Department of Veterans Affairs representative will not be coming to Osage County anymore, but Lee Webb will be still doing the Veterans Assistance for this area. Every Friday Lee will be at the Pawhuska Community Center-9 a.m-11a.m., Wynona 11:30a.m.-12:30 p.m. and Hominy from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. and any other towns that need assistance can come to one of these towns to meet with Lee.

Remember that the VA Healthcare meets all the requirements for Obamacare, so anyone who does not have their VA Healthcare should come and talk to Lee. Lee wanted to remind everyone that he will also be at Cleveland from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. on Fridays, as well.
