VETERAN REPRESENTATIVE AT WYNONA TOWN HALL
Just a reminder that Lee Webb, is still coming to the Town Hall on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. to help Veterans with their benefits. This is a great opportunity for veterans and should be utilized by all that are qualified. Veterans are reminded that they can use their tax exempt card from the state to exempt taxes on their phone bills. Just contact your telephone provider for more details.
The OK Department of Veterans Affairs representative will not be coming to Osage County anymore, but Lee Webb will be still doing the Veterans Assistance for this area. Every Friday Lee will be at the Pawhuska Community Center, 9 a.m-11 a.m., Wynona 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and Hominy from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. and any other towns that need assistance can come to one of these towns to meet with Lee.
Remember that the VA Healthcare meets all the requirements for Obamacare, so anyone who does not have their VA Healthcare should come and talk to Lee.
WYNONA SCHOOL NOTES
(Submitted by Dixie Hurd,
The first quarter is complete. Report cards will go out on Wednesday, Oct. 23. These grades are a marker but the real grades that go down in the books forever are the semester grades that will be taken at the end of the second quarter. There is still time to bring grades to a passing level, if they are not satisfactory.
Remember, Oct. 14 - 18 is fall break. There will be no school those days. Basketball games will be starting in November. Schedules can be picked up in the office.
The eighth grade students will be going to Tri County Tech on Tuesday, Oct. 22 to take the Explore test and to tour the facilities. They will need a sack lunch. They may bring one from home or purchase one from the school cafeteria. Our Fall Carnival will be Friday, Oct. 25 from 6 - 8 p.m. Please plan to spend a fun filled evening at the school.
We will need baked items for the cake walk and OU/OSU items, holiday items, baking items, and movie night items for the baskets to be raffled. We have a start to a great PTO. The few people who are volunteering their time to help raise money for all of our kids’ needs, could use some support from everyone! Please try to attend the December meeting. If everyone gives a little of his/her time, then no one has to give a lot of his/her time!
Mrs. Shulanberger and Mrs. Ervin are organizing a trip to go to Washington D.C. this summer. This is NOT a school function. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to get to see our nation’s capitol. They are raising funds in many ways. We are hoping they meet their financial goals. This trip is totally outside of the school realm and is not sponsored in any way by the school!
Megan Parks, with Rogers State will be here on Oct. 29 to talk to the seniors about college. She will be here at 1:50 p.m. This is a great opportunity for seniors to get a clear understanding of the application process for Rogers State. We hope everyone has a restful and safe fall break!
TRYING TO SET UP FLU CLINIC
Town Clerk, Tennie Slone has been trying to find an agency that will come to the Town Hall for a Flu Shot Clinic. If anyone knows of an agency that can do this, please contact Slone at 918-846-2526. We have had a good success with this in the past and would like to have another one to help protect our citizens from the Flu!
TRICK OR TREAT
Trick or Treat in Wynona will be Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. All treaters are asked to leave their porch lights on. Traffic in Wynona should be observing a 15 mph speed limit during those hours.
WYNONA CHRISTMAS PARADE
The Wynona Christmas parade will be Saturday, Dec. 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m. All clubs and organizations should be making their plans to be in our parade. It will be a lot of fun, as usual. Mark your calendars!
