WYNONA SCHOOL NOTES

(Submitted by Dixie Hurd,

Superintendent)

Another Grandparent’s Day has come and gone, but what a great day it was!

We appreciate our Parent/Teacher Organization for providing the meals for our guests. The food was delicious and we had nearly 60 people who honored us with a visit. Thanks PTO and thanks to our cafeteria staff for their extra efforts to make it such a great meal. Our custodians did extra duties to get our buildings and grounds in great shape.

Mrs. Hough worked at the book fair along with Ms. Ervin, Miss Lorrie and Mrs. St. John. Thanks everyone for helping to make it a wonderful day. We would also like to thank Lori Smithey for taking the time to steam the carpet in the kindergarten classroom. She wanted to help our school cut down on germs. We appreciate the people in our community.

Our girls’ junior high softball team is still undefeated! We are so excited about their commitment to the sport. We appreciate Steven and Jennesee Holt for their dedication to our school. Our last home game is Sept. 24, at 4:30 p.m. Come join us if you can!

Remember that parent conferences are Sept. 17 and 19th from 4 - 7 p.m. Please contact your child’s teacher to set up a time to discuss your child’s progress. Grades can be checked on the computer and teachers can give you those passwords if you do not have them already. We also have a computer set up in the admin hallway for parents to use if one is not available at home.

VETERAN REPRESENTATIVE AT WYNONA TOWN HALL

Just a reminder that Lee Webb, is still coming to the Town Hall on Fridays from 11:30 until 12:30 to help Veterans with their benefits. This is a great opportunity for veterans and should be utilized by all that are qualified. Veterans are reminded that they can use their tax exempt card from the state to exempt taxes on their phone bills. Just contact your telephone provider for more details.

WYNONA TRASH UPDATE

This is just a reminder from the Wynona Trash company, J C & Sons, that ALL trash is to be bagged, even if it is put in the polycarts. The trash people will not pick it up if it is not in bags. This has been the rule from the beginning of this service.

BLOOD PRESSURE/BLOOD SUGAR CLINIC AT WYNONA TOWN HALL

The Osage Home Health is doing a Blood Pressure/Blood Sugar Clinic at the Town Hall on the first of each month. It will be from 10 a.m. until noon. Everyone is encouraged to come and get their tests done and keep healthy!

VA HEALTHCARE AND THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

If you are enrolled in VA Healthcare, you don’t need to take additional steps to meet the health care law coverage standards. If you are not enrolled in VA Health Care, you can enroll at any time. For an application and requirements, contact Lee Webb at the Friday meeting from 11:30 until 12:30. If you have been turned down for VA Health Care in the past or you are a younger Veteran, this is very important to you!
