The National Indian Taco Championship will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 5 in downtown Pawhuska.

There will be vendors for all ages, along with the Indian Dance and Drum Competition. Prize money for the dance is $200 for first and second place and $100 for third place. Categories include Ages 16 and Over, Men’s Straight, Men’s Fancy, Women’s Cloth, Women’s Buckskin, as well as the Children’s exhibition, which will begin at 11 a.m.

The Drum Competition will have preliminary rounds to follow. Contestants from those rounds will participate in the finals to win first place of $1,500, second place of $1,000 and third place of $500. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 30.

After the NITC, the Osage County Fairgrounds will be having a Barrel Racing Competition with $1,000 added money. It is a free gate. Races start at 6 p.m.
