BETHEL – The Wildcats scored a fourth quarter touchdown to avoid a shutout against Purcell. Bethel fell to 1-6 on the season and 0-4 in district play Friday with a 34-7 loss.

Bethel’s lone touchdown came on a Gunner Smith to Devin Acklin pass play. Smith threw for 147 yards and one touchdown. He also threw an interception in the loss.

Acklin hauled in seven passes for 104 yards and the lone Bethel touchdown. Acklin leads all area receivers with 601 yards and seven touchdowns.

Matthew Melter ran for 51 yards on 12 carries.

Bethel will travel to Douglass Oct 18. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
