Ardmore’s Out of the Darkness community walk has been moved to the Ardmore YMCA due to inclement weather.
The event is still slated for 10 to noon this Saturday, October 13. Event Chair Jaime Johnson said the annual event is part of a national movement to raise awareness of suicide as well as raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
“It’s just a time to remember the ones we’ve lost and let others know they’re not alone, and their loved ones are still remembered,” Johnson said.
The event was originally going to take place at Ardmore Regional Park, but Johnson said after Tuesday’s storms, she made the call to move it indoors.
“We’ll be walking the Y,” Johnson said. “We’ll do four laps around the Y and we’ll have a raffle.”
The day will also include a memory wall where participants can write messages and display photos of loved ones.
Online registration ends at noon today. On site registration opens at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Online registration and donations can be made at https://bit.ly/2Pt48Hp.
