Wow! The first week of school flew by! It was great to see the students’ excitement to see the teachers and their friends.

We are excited to announce the new staff we were able to add to our school: Mr. Askew, history teacher and coach; Mrs. Cotton, junior high math and Algebra II; Mrs. Schmidt, reading specialist; Mrs. Amanda, cook; Ms. Cathy, library/alternative education assistant; and Mrs. Susan, reading interventionist.

I would like to send a huge thank you to all of our supporters in the community and surrounding communities! Without all of you and your generosity we wouldn’t have been able to supply our students with free school supplies! We appreciated everyone attending the athletic steak dinner to support our athletes! Lastly, thank you for the outpouring of support for our high school FACS program. Della Carter made 55 lemon pies to purchase nine new sewing machines and donated the $240 left over the program. Thanks to her for the hard work and to everyone who purchased one of her delicious pies! It is absolutely amazing to have such wonderful supporters of our great school!

We are ecstatic to have the FACS program in addition to offering archery, fishing, and skeet shooting during the school day this year. Students will be competing in archery and fishing tournaments, receiving hunter education safety, and many more fun activities. The skeet shooting program will be later in the school year after Mr. Powell and Mr. Troy attend additional training. We have been approved by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife for the skeet shooting program. However, the instructors must attend training before the program is implemented. Students will not be allowed to bring guns to school. It will be a very controlled atmosphere. Along with Mr. Powell and Mr. Troy, one of the school resource officers or a game warden will be in attendance.

High school girls will competed against Oilton at home on Tuesday. They will travel to Foyil for a tournament on Friday, details to be announced.

The admission prices to home games are: $5 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens over the age of 65 are free. There will also be concessions available. Parking is on the west side of the field.

The fifth- and sixth-grade students will be attending Star Base training in Tulsa with Mr. Powell on Wednesday. All students will need a sack lunch. They depart at 7:50 a.m. and will return by 3:30 p.m. and will participate again on Wednesday, August 22.

Picture day is Friday,. Order forms will go home next week.

We are continuing to implement Positive Behavior at Wynona Schools. Students are rewarded with “Shout Out” tickets to redeem at the Shout Out Shack. They receive a “Shout Out” when caught being respectful, kind, and/or responsible!
