The first day of school at Caney Valley is Wednesday. We want to wish all the Caney Valley staff members and students best of luck and hope you have wonderful 2018-2019 year. Caney Valley Elementary is still accepting enrollment for the Pre-K. Students need to be four-years old on or before Sept. 1. Parents and guardians will need to bring immunization records, birth certificates, certificate of degree of Indian blood (CDIB) cards, if applicable, and proof of residency.


The Ramona Chamber of Commerce will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Ramona Senior Center and will be planning the annual ice cream social. If you are interested in joining the chamber, please join them! The ice cream social is generally the second Monday in September, but stay tuned for more details and the official date.


The Fisk-Leffler Women’s Auxiliary Unit No. 334 will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Ramona American Legion Building.


Looking for a place to hold your family reunion, bridal shower or home-based business party? The Ramona Senior Citizen building is for rent for $25 a day. It contains a full kitchen, restroom and seating for right at 65 people. It is the perfect location to have your event as it is located right next to the park, and there is also covered outdoor tables/seating and room to grill! The Fisk-Leffler American Legion Post is open for business. This gorgeous remodeled early 1900s building can seat up to 150 people. They have a fully-equipped kitchen, spacious bathrooms that are large enough for wedding parties and new round table seating that is available. If you are interested in renting the facility, contact Richard Cook at 918-876-2063 or email recook001@aol.com . It can be rented on a daily for $100 or $50 on a half day basis. The Ramona Senior Citizens meet at the Senior Citizen on Main Street every Tuesday at 10 a.m. to play games and stay for lunch! The first and third Tuesdays of the month, the Washington County Nutrition Services brings lunch at noon and the cost is $2 per person. The other weeks of the month, attendees are to bring a dish for a pot-luck lunch. Wednesday mornings at 9:30 are a great time to visit the Ramona Senior Center and join the yoga fun; this is open to all ages.
