James Scott McDonald, 67, of Shawnee, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018, at his home.

James Scott McDonald, 67, of Shawnee, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018, at his home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1951, to James and Betty (Sanders) McDonald in Tulsa.

James was raised in several places since the family moved around a lot with his father’s work. He attended college in Chicago and earned his bachelor’s degree.

James worked as a paint and body technician in the automotive industry most of his life.

He was talented in his trade and enjoyed restoring cars, working with his hands in repairing things, gardening, being outdoors and loved animals. James was very charismatic and everyone enjoyed his company. He loved spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty McDonald; and daughter’s fiancé, Douglas Lenhart.

Survivors include his daughter, April McDonald of Tecumseh; sister, Gay Lynne Dawson of Sarcoxie, Missouri; nephews, Michael Dawson and Nathan Dawson; step-daughter, Anna Billins and Kevin of McLoud; step-grandsons, Liam Billins and Luke Billins; companion, Colleen Meeks of Shawnee; and other extended family and friends.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Friday, June 15, at Sharon Baptist Church with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
