The Osage Nation has announced that voters in the general elections that concluded June 4 have apparently re-elected Principal Chief Geoffrey M. Standing Bear and Assistant Principal Chief Raymond Red Corn by wide margins.

Osage News reported that Chief Standing Bear received more than 67 percent of votes cast for the office of principal chief, and Assistant Principal Chief Red Corn received more than 69 percent of votes cast for the office of assistant principal chief. The results were still unofficial.

Chief Standing Bear, who had a surgery on one of his legs about a week ago, was present Tuesday for an official ceremony in Hominy, marking the blessing and opening of a new community center and dance arbor.
