Charges were formally filed against an Ardmore woman for first degree arson last week. According to the information filed in Carter County District Court on Thursday, Janell Lousie Carroll, 32, was charged with the felony due to allegations that she maliciously set fire to a pile of wood frames and clothing next to the front door of a residence in the 1700 block of Shenandoah Drive. The document further alleges Carroll also set fire to a filter in the garage of the same property. Court records indicate  there were at least three people inside the home at the time.
The initial hearing in the case was heard by Judge Carson Brooks Thursday. Brooks set the preliminary conference date for June 21st. Bond was set in the case at $20,000. A no contact order was also issued as to the victims.
