The Barnsdall High School Panthers (11-6) swept through their own tournament last week, capturing the championship with an 8-2 victory over Rejoice Christian on Saturday. Barnsdall shutout Pawnee, 8-0, in Monday in a game that was stopped with Barnsdall batting in the bottom of the fourth. The Panthers were scheduled to play Wesleyan Christian in Bartlesville on Tuesday. The had a game scheduled at Woodland at 6 p.m. Thursday. Monday, the are scheduled to play in Hominy at 4 p.m. In the same tournament, the Pawhuska High School Huskies lost the first game, but won the next two to capture third place. BARNSDALL 8, PAWNEE 0 Barnsdall pitcher Wesley Yarber had a four-inning shutout going Monday in the Panther’s game with Pawnee. Yarber didn’t allow any hits, while striking out five. He didn’t walk anyone. Meanwhile, two Pawnee pitchers didn’t fare as well. They allowed six walks in four innings. The Panthers scored three in the first, one in the second and four in the third inning. Braden Kelley started the first with a walk. He stole second and reached third on Michael Marin’s ground out to the pitcher. Joseph Cole hit a line drove that was misplayed by the second baseman. Kelley scored and Cole was safe at first. James Cole drew a walk. Joseph Cole advanced to third and James Cole moved to second on a wild pitch. Yarber drew a walk to load the bases. Joseph Cole scored on a wild pitch. James Cole advanced to third. Keegan Marin drove in James Cole on a grounder to first base. BARNSDALL 8, REJOICE CHRISTIAN In Saturday’s game, Barnsdall jumped to a 2-0 first inning lead. The Panthers scored three in the third and two in the fourth to lead 7-2 after the bottom of that inning. Barnsdall added one run in the top of the seventh to pick up the 8-2 victory. Joseph Cole sent through for four in the game. He scored twice and plated two. James Cole picked up three RBI going 1-4 in the contest. Wesley Yarber went 1 for 2 and had two RBI. Joseph Cole went the first three innings on the mound. He gave up two runs — one earned — on two hits. He struck out one. Michael Marin finished the game. He didn’t allow any runs and gave up just three hits in four innings of work. He struck out three. In the two-run first, Michael Marin started things with a one-out single. He reached second on a passed ball and scored on Joseph Cole’s single. Joseph Cole advanced to third on James Cole’s grounder to second. Joseph Cole scored on a double by Wesley Yarber. BARNSDALL 6, OKLAHOMA UNION 1 Michael Marin, Wesley Yarber and Joseph Cole combined for a five-hitter in Friday’s 6-1 victory over Oklahoma Union. The trio struck out six and allowed just one walk in the contest. Joseph Cole went 2-for-3 in the game, including a double. He collected two RBI James Cole went 1 for 3 and gathered three RBI on a home run in the bottom of the fifth that gave Barnsdall a 6-1 lead. Michael Marin and Joseph Cole scored. Barnsdall drew first blood with a single score in the first. Marin drew a 1-out walk, and stole second. He scored on a Joseph Cole grounder to second. BARNSDALL 6, WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN 3 The Barnsdall Panthers started their tournament with a 6-3 win over Wesleyan Christian on Thursday. Barnsdall used a five-inning second to take a lead it wouldn’t give up. Michael Marin scored twice in the game. He went 1-3 at the plate. Joseph Cole and Braden Kelley picked up RBIs. Christian Minton pitched the first 4.2 innings. He allowed three runs on seven hits. he struck out six and walked three. Wesley Yarber got one out in the fourth to wrap up the game. The five-run second started with a R Robbins one-out single. W. Price picked up Barnsdall’s second hour. B Shores walked. Braden Kelly singled to score Robbins, and Shores advanced to third. Michael Marin reached on an error by the shortstop. Shores and Kelley scored. Marin stole second and third and scored on a Joseph Cole single. James Cole singled and moved Joseph Cole to third. Joseph Cole stole home to pick up the fifth run of the inning. The Pawhuska Huskies went 2-1 in the Barnsdall tournament to improve their season mark to 8-5. They were scheduled to travel to Shidler on Tuesday. The will play Leedey and Drummond at Drummond on Saturday. PAWHUSKA 13, WOODLAND 3 On Saturday, the Huskies scored six runs in the second to take control of the game against Woodland. Ryan Jones went all four innings on the mound for the Huskies. He allowed three runs on six hits. He struck out six Randsom Jones went 3 for 3, including a double at the plate. He picked up three RBI. Easton Kirk went 1 for 2 and picked up two RBI. R.J. McCann also plated two. In the pivotal second, Hunter Reed reached and advanced to second on an error. Gabe Letzkus was hit by a pitch. Randsom Jones reached on an error, scoring Reed. R.J. McCann reached on an error, which scored Letzkus and Jones. Isaiah Walker reached on a bunt single. Walker stole second. McCann and Walker scored on an Easton Kirk’s single. Kirk stole second, advanced to third on Cade McNeil’s grounder. Kirk scored on a passed ball. PAWHUSKA 14, PAWNEE 2 Pawhuska scored 10-runs in the third inning to record a 14-2 win over Pawnee Friday in the Barnsdall tournament. The Huskies led 4-2 going into the third. Randsom Jones went 1-3 with a triple. He collected three RBI. R.J. McCann went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Easton Kirk went 1 for 2 with two RBI. Ryan Jones, McCann and Hunter Reed each collected doubles against the Black Bears. Gable Letzkus started on the mound. He allowed two runs, both earned. Brayden Wilson pitched the final two innings. REJOICE CHRISTIAN 3, PAWHUSKA 1 The game was tied 1-1 after the first inning. Rejoice Christian picked up single runs in the third and fourth. Randsom Jones pitched all six innings for the Huskies. He allsoed three runs on eight hits. He struck out 11 and walked two. In the first, Easton Kirk reached when he was hit by a pitch. Cade McNeil sacrificed to move Kirk to second.
