CHRISTMAS PARADE SET
The Wynona Christmas Parade will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 16. Everyone who can, should have a float or be a part of this parade, it means so much to all ages, but especially the little ones. Santa Claus will be there to hand out goodies and take pictures with the kids. Plan to attend and pass the word around to everyone you know!
Once again, Wynonans are asked to keep their dogs contained and not let them run loose. There have been many complaints about dogs running loose in other people’s yards, making messes, scaring little kids and adults, eating food that people have left out for their own cats or dogs. There is a leash law and dogs are supposed to be in a pen, inside a fence or tied. Please follow the law and keep from getting a citation!!
TRASH BAGS A MUST
Wynonans are reminded that they have to put their trash in trash bags and not leave it loose. The trash truck employees will not pick it up if it is loose.
NEW FIRE DEPARTMENT EMERGENCY NUMBER
Due to increasing costs and the number of firefighters that do not have “land lines,” the decision has been made to discontinue the fire department phone service and fire bar. I have looked into the functionality of the fire bar and have found that it rings into city hall, phone office, fire station and only two firefighters houses. This in turn causes serious issues when a call is made during non-duty hours at city hall as there might not be anyone to answer the call. So, to save the fire department and the town additional liability, the fire phone is being shut off. This will be effective December 31, 2017.
WYNONA BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET
The Wynona Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, Nov. 21st for the regular November meeting. The Board conducted regular business, then voted to approve the request from Fire Chief Lance Ryerson to shut off the fire phones and just have everyone call 911 if they have a fire emergency. It was approved unanimously. The explanation is above on the reason behind this decision. Attending the meeting were: Lance, Rusten and Kadin Ryerson, Tonya Holt, Donna Swanner, Loretta Little, Della Carter, Johnnie Lott, Janet Delaney and Tennie Slone. The Wynona Board and employees would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
