Wanda McCall, 84, of Shawnee, passed from this life Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, in Oklahoma City.

Wanda McCall, 84, of Shawnee, passed from this life Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, in Oklahoma City.

She was born Sept. 8, 1933, to Preston Edward and Sarah Melvina (Forester) Duncan in Atoka.

Wanda was raised in Atoka where she grew up as an only child in the country. She was a graduate of Atoka High School.

She married L.D. “Doug” McCall in 1984 in Maud, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 2001.

Wanda learned to drive a truck and earned her C.D.L. while helping her husband in his trucking business. Wanda earned her LPN license and worked most of her life in healthcare. She was an extremely giving person and enjoyed traveling and taking her grandchildren to Padre Island during the summer. Wanda loved her dogs and loved children, especially her grandchildren and was known as Grandma Wanda at church. She was a very devout Christian woman and a woman of integrity and great strength who was the anchor of her family. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. “Doug” McCall; her daughter, Debra Roop; and her parents, Preston and Sarah Duncan.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Trent Gibson of Bethel Acres; three grandchildren, Tony and Traci Kenyon of Shawnee, Brandy and Daniel Hileman of Pottsboro, Texas, and Sawyer and Erin Gibson of Bethel Acres; nine great-grandchildren; three dogs; and other loving extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11, and continue through service time.

Service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, at Northwest Missionary Baptist Church in Shawnee with Pastor Ed Fox of Northwest Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery in Atoka under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
