Good times and old friends will converge in Pawhuska later this week for a fun homecoming celebration.
There will be a spirited school pep rally, then the usual family-friendly homecoming parade starting at 4 p.m Friday in historic downtown Pawhuska. And then of course an exciting game of pigskin that evening.
The Huskies will kick off against the Newkirk Tigers at 7 p.m. at Ormand Beach Memorial Stadium, where this year’s homecoming king and queen will be crowned. The cornation ceremony is at 6:30 p.m.
The Pawhuska High School class of 1967 will celebrate its milestone reunion throughout the weekend and several alumni classes are expected to participate in the much-anticipated parade.
Excitement will follow on Saturday when contestants flock to downtown Pawhuska to taste some of the best Indian tacos in the country.
The event is set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Visitors to this annual championship not only taste tacos, but also enjoy local bands, Native American dance demonstrations and craft vendor booths.
Local shops will be open for business during the Taco Championship and will provide a unique shopping experience to all festival goers.
The party continues during the All-School Reunion starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Elks Lodge, 2542 Elks Lodge Dr. The main attraction will no doubt be world-renowned Elvis and Neil Diamond impersonators. Entertainer Sylvia Herren and comedian Katsy Chappell will make the evening memorable.
