With three straight wins to begin the season, the Lone Grove Lady Horns entered the Chisholm Trail Classic this weekend full of confidence.

While their undefeated streak might have ended, LGHS managed to earn two victories in Shawnee.

Lone Grove (5-2) will be at Davis Monday night beginning at 5 p.m.

 

Tuttle 1
Lone Grove 0 

Runs were scarce in the opening game for Lone Grove against Tuttle.

The Lady Tigers managed to squeak out the game’s only score as THS won 1-0.

Tuttle scored in the top of the fourth inning. 

Emmy Guthrie took the loss on the mound for the Lady Horns, throwing six innings of work. She allowed one earned run on three hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Piedmont 10 Lone Grove 0

Against the Class 5A Piedmont Lady Wildcats, the Lady Horns offense struggled to produce.

Four runs in the first two innings of the game were too much to overcome as LGHS lost its second straight contest.

Piedmont scored two more runs in the top of the third to seal the victory.

Taylor McIntyre took the loss on the mound for the Lady Horns, throwing two innings of work. She allowed four earned runs on eight hits.

Emmy Guthrie threw two innings of relief allowing two earned runs on two hits with three strikeouts.

Lone Grove 3 Bethel 1 

 

Lone Grove did just enough in its third game to earn a victory over Bethel, thanks to three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Bethel took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth, before Nova Dodson drew a bases loaded walk which scored Brooklyn Mason to tie the game.

Emily Burns then put the Lady Horns in the lead with a two-RBI double to center field off a line drive.

Taylor McIntyre got the win on the mound for Lone Grove, throwing a complete game effort.

She allowed one run (0 earned) on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts.

The tournament finished in style as the Lady Horns run-ruled the Lady Bulldogs from Cache.

Emmy Guthrie got LGHS on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the first, before Taleigh Nail scored following an error to make it 2-0.

Cache cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the second, but the Lady Bulldogs would get no closer.

Guthrie struck again and made it 3-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the third, before Logan Graves made it 4-1 with an RBI single to center.

Jordan Johnson then added another run with an RBI single of her own, before Brooklyn Mason hit a two-RBI single to center.

Shelby Stevenson made it 9-1 with a two-RBI double to right field, before later scoring on an error.

Mason finished the game off with an RBI single.

Guthrie got the win on the mound for the Lady Horns throwing four innings of work. She allowed just one earned run on three hits with three walks and nine strikeouts.
