Voters in Wynona will be going to the polls for two special elections on Tuesday.
Citizens of the town are to consider renewal of an electric-utility franchise agreement with Public Service Co. of Oklahoma. Approval would retain PSO as the town’s electric-power provider for another 25 years, officials said.
Wynona I-30 School District will seek a $160,000 bond issue to fund improvements at the schools. Security upgrades, all new lighting, classroom furniture and playground equipment is included in the proposal, which also calls for replacement of district buildings’ water pipes, water heaters and high school lockers. The package also calls for new technology (interactive smartboards, projectors, computers, etc.).
Barnsdall I-29 School District will also have a bond issue proposasal before the voters on March 7.
The following Osage County polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Osage County Election Board Secretary Andrea Conner said.
For the Town of Wynona Special Election: Precinct 111, Assembly of God Church, 413 Highland Ave. in Wynona.
Polling sites for the Wynona I-30 Special School Election are: Precinct 108, Calvary Baptist Church, 620 E. 15th St. in Pawhuska; Precinct 111, Assembly of God, 413 Highland Ave in Wynona; Precinct 112, Avant Community Center, 306 S. Havens in Avant; and Precinct 306, First Assembly of God, 313 S. She She in Hominy.
In the Barnsdall I-29 Special School Election, voting will be at: Precinct 102, Strikeaxe Non-Profit Water Office, 811 CR 2425 in Okesa; Precinct 109, Osage Hills School, 225 CR 2706 in Bartlesville; Precinct 110, Barnsdall City Hall/PSO Building, 409 W. Main in Barnsdall, and Precinct 112, Avant Community Center, 306 S. Havens in Avant.
The last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the April 4 Special General Election for Osage County District 1 Commissioner is Friday, March 10, said Osage County Election Board Secretary Andrea Conner.
March 10 also is the registration cutoff date for voters who want to cast ballots in several other April 4 elections in Osage County, including regular municipal elections in the City of Barnsdall, the Town of Fairfax, the Town of Hominy, the Town of Skiatook and the Town of Sperry. Sperry also will be having a Special Town Election.
Oklahoma Voter Registration Application forms are available at the County Election Board office located at 630 Kihekah Ave., and at most post offices, tag agencies, and public libraries in the county.
Shidler Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance will host its 9th-annual Stew/Cook-Off on Saturday, March 4, at the old school gym. Starting time is 6:30 p.m.
The event is open to the public, with no pre-entry required. Adults pay $7 each or two for $10. Children 12 & underget in for $3 or two for $5. There also will be a silent auction featuring homemade items.
