Charges of rape and bribery have been filed against a former guard at Hominy’s Conner Correctional Center who is accused of engaging in sex with two inmates at the prison last year.

Carmen Darlene Pogue, a 33-year-old Cleveland resident, was charged Feb. 14 in Osage County District Court with two counts of first-degree rape. The formal allegations stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, a DOC spokesman said.

According to the allegations, Pogue had sex with two male prisoners at the medium-security facility. The 29- and 47-year-old inmates are identified in documents filed in the case, prison officials said.

Under Oklahoma law, sexual intercourse between a prison employee and an inmate is considered rape even if it is consensual, the officials said.

The related “bribery of fiduciary” charge claims Pogue — who held the DOC rank of captain — received $2,200 from the younger of the men. In return, she allegedly provided him with clothing and a ring, the charge states.

Osage County Jail records show that Pogue was booked on the charges Thursday, Feb. 16. A warrant that had been issued for her arrest carried a $5,000 bond amount, online court reports said.

Another former Conner employee also was charged with bribery of fiduciary. Prison officials allege Cade Carlson, a Mannford resident, gave the 47-year-old inmate contraband items (including drugs, cellphones and tobacco products) during the same time period the prisoner was involved with Pogue.

Although the Hominy prison it is considered a medium-security facility, it also contains a minimum-security unit, officials added.
