A man found dead last week near Hulah Lake was apparently the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, investigators with the Osage County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Emergency responders were called to the scene Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, after an unresponsive man was discovered in a parked vehicle on Army Corps of Engineers-managed land in the vicinity of the Rocky Ford boat ramp.
Preliminary findings revealed that the man had been killed by a bullet wound to his head, OCSO Investigator Loren Vaughan said.
Vaughan said the man — who was in his late 50s — has been identified, but his name is not being released until family members can be notified. The investigtor said some of the relatives live outside of Oklahoma. He said the deceased man was a resident of Osage County, adding: “but, he wasn’t from that part of the county.”
