PARADE PLANNED

Downtown Pawhuska’s 2016 Christmas Parade of Lights will be held Saturday evening, Dec. 3.

“A Classic Christmas” is the theme of this year’s event, which is sponsored by the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce and Tri County Tech. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m.

Serving as parade marshal will be Sally Carroll, who operated a local cafe from 1943 to 2014. Sally celebrated her 100th birthday last month.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the parade’s nonprofit category. Prize amounts are $300 for first place, $200 to the second-place entry and $100 for a third-place finisher.

HIKE ON SUNDAY

Osage Hiking Club has scheduled its third-annual pre-Thanksgiving Day Hike for Sunday, N0v. 20, at the Prairie Song Western Village, east of Dewey.

Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and the hike starts around 2. Afterward, there will be pumpkin pie and hot cider.

HOME SETS EVENT

The annual Christmas festivities at the Drummond Home in Hominy have been scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10.

Every room of the historic Victorian home will be decorated for the season. The band Finnegans Awake will be playing music in the parlor. Holiday treats are to be dispensed. Regular admission ($3 for adults, $2.50 seniors and $1 for children) will be collected at the door.

CRAFT EVENT PLANNED

A craft extravagnza is to be held at Wah-Zha-Zhe Cultural Center, 1449 W. Main St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.

No admission will be charged for the event, which was started by the Osage Nation in 2014. Santa Claus is to make an appearance and will remain on hand for photographs. For more information, please call 287-5580.

BENEFIT EVENT SET

Bartlesville Blue Star Mothers will be hosting a “Wine, Cheese and Chocolate” fundraiser Friday, Nov. 18, with proceeds to benefit local troops.

A presentation regarding pairings of cheeses and wines is to be made by Jim Hess of Fifth and Shawnee Liquor. Nathan Bates from Omega Chocolates will discuss chocolate-and-wine pairings. Event attendees also are to be joined for the evening by U.S. Navy veteran Jim Maher, author of an award-winning book, “All Would Be Heroes,” about his experiences while serving overseas.

Price’s Old Fashioned Meat Market will give each guest a choice between three sell-out soups to go with a salad and breadstick bar. Selections of cheese cake and coffee are to also be provided. A silent auction is to run throughout the night.

The benefit lasts from 7-9 p.m at the Bartlesville Women’s Club, 601 S. Shawnee Ave. Online tickets will be available (at bvlbluestars.org) for $25, with the cost at the door to be $30 .

Proceeds will benefit the Bartlesville Blue Star Mothers, mothers of children in military service or the Veteran Child non-profit. Sponsors include Phillips 66, Truity Credit Union and Osage Casino.

T-SHIRT SALES

BENEFIT SOUP KITCHEN

Pawhuska Elementary is taking orders for “Smash Cancer” T-shirts. All proceeds go to the local Soup Kitchen. Shirts are long-sleeved orange T-shirts with a Chevron Oklahoma and a ribbon for Osage County. On the back, it states “Smash Cancer.”

Orders need to be turned in to the school by Nov. 28. Shirts are $20 each.
