The Pawhuska Huskies’ seventh/eighth-grade football team rolled to a 26-0 home victory Monday over the Caney Valley Trojans.

Caney Valley opened the contest by taking the ball deep into Pawhuska territory, but the drive ended when Kalen Carter recovered a Trojan fumble at the 35-yard line. Midway through the second quarter, Bryce Drummond ran 60 yards for the Huskies’ first touchdown. The score remained 6-0 at halftime .

Carter returned the second-half kickoff 70 yards for a TD and Jack Long ran the two-point conversion, giving the locals a 14-0 advantage. Touchdown passes of 33 and 43 yards from Colton Brunger to Long accounted for the other Pawhuska scores. A devastating block by Isaiah Walker cleared a path for Long on the second TD.

Kevin Davis had a 25-yard punt return for the Huskies. Also recovering fumbles for Pawhuska were Chandler Moen, Gavin Camargo and Dallin Richardson.

On Saturday, the three Pawhuska Youth Sports’ elementary teams will enter the Ironman Football League Playoffs.

The local fifth-and-sixth grade Huskies are scheduled to play at Ramona. The third/fourth-grade squad and the undefeated first-and-second graders will travel to Fairfax.
