The long-term solution is to diversify our economy by growing our manufacturing, technology, and transportation workforce and increasing our tourism attractions to out-of-state groups. The short-term solution is to evaluate every state agency to insure that they are effective and efficient. Then we must review every state tax credit, rebate, and incentive to insure that they are providing quality jobs and generating tax revenue at the state and local level.

Do what families, individuals, small businesses and big employers like energy companies have to do – reduce budgets, prioritize expenditures, implement permanent changes that leave more money in your pocket now and as the economy recovers. As the economy improves and more revenue comes in – don't spend it all. We should budget with the next downturn in mind. When there's a drought we conserve water. When there is abundant rainfall, we should still conserve water.
