A $7 charge for ambulance service is being added to utility bills in Wynona.
The Wynona Board of Trustees voted Sept. 20 to accept the fee, which had recently been proposed by the town’s longtime emergency-services provider, Hominy Ambulance Serivice.
While voiced unanimous opposition to additional costs for the townspeople, board members also said they didn’t want to be responsible for someone dying because they had not voted for having access to ambulance service.
The $7 fee is mandatory for households located within the town limits, and those living outside of town can opt in if they choose to, officials said.
Anyone with a question about the issue should call the Wynona Town Hall at 918-846-2526.
