Patsy Lorenzen Simmons

Dr. Patsy Lorenzen Simmons of Pawhuska, Oklahoma passed away on August 27, 2016.

Patsy was born November 21, 1943 in El Reno, Oklahoma to Walter T. and Barbara Lou Lorenzen, both are which deceased. Her two brothers, Walter J. and Robert E. Lorenzen are deceased as well. She is survived by her loving son and family, Nick Simmons, of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma and two granddaughters, Danielle Simmons Elston and husband Taylor Elston of Burleson, Texas. Nicollette Simmons Oldham and husband Eric Oldham of Yukon Oklahoma, one sister of El Reno and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Lorenzen, of El Reno, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She has B.S. degree from O.C.L.A. at Chickasha, M.T. degree from S.W. State at Weatherford, and a Ed.D from Oklahoma State University in 1990. She taught junior high Science for 7 years and was high school principal for 10 years at Pawhuska.

Patsy was selected twice at Minco as Teacher of the Year and once at North Enid. She was N.W. Oklahoma Counselor of the Year. She was also Oklahoma Reading Asso. State District 4A Principal of the Year.

She was involved in HEEKO, Kiwanis, Osage County Retired Teachers Association, United Methodist Church, and the Oklahoma Retired Administrators Association.

She has served in all officer positions for the Pawhuska Kiwanis Club. She was also the Kiwanis advisor for the high school Key Club or faculty advisor for 20 years. She served as secretary/treasurer for Helping Hands Christmas Program.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 8, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Pawhuska. Pastor Kathy Morris will officiate the service.
