The Annual Fun Day in the city park on Saturday is rapidly approaching. With it being Father’s Day weekend, relatives will be gathering and meeting with old friends. The following is a schedule of events and list of vendors:


6 a.m. — BBQ Competition begins


8:30-8:45 a.m. — Check in for 5K Watercolor Fun Run


9 a.m. — Fun Run and vendors open


9:30-9:45 a.m. — Check in for Horseshoes and Corn Hole Tournament. Starts at 10 a.m.


11 a.m. — Scavenger hunt


Noon — Turtle race


1 p.m. — Water balloon toss


2 p.m. — Yard Twister


3 p.m. — Sack races


4 p.m. — Water balloon toss and vendors close


5 p.m. — BBQ dinner


5:30 p.m. — Contest winners announced


6-9 p.m. — Dance on the basketball court

The streets around the park will be closed. Residents are encouraged to come early for the best parking.


The Senior Citizens lunch for Thursday is lasagna, garlic bread, salad, veggie and dessert. The center, located at 310 E. Weldon, is open at 10 a.m. with lunch served at 11:30 a.m.


Hope Community Church is hosting a three-day “Healing Explosion” starting at 7 p.m. June 21. There will be special music and guest speakers. Pastors Larry and Carolyn Hopkins, Stan Whitmore, Minister Dwight Ship and Pastors Greg and Linda Buie will be ministering. The community is invited.
